FORESTRY SECTOR

Staff information:

The Dzongkhag Forestry sector consists of seven staffs, five in the geogs with one sector head and assistant in the Dzongkhag.

The staffs present in the Forestry Sector are:
1. Rinchen Wangdi- Dzongkhag Forestry Officer
2. Rinzin Dorji- Asst. Dzongkhag Forestry Officer
3. Rikzin – Forest Guard
4. Tandin Gyeltshen- Forest Ranger(Chhokhor Gewog)
5. Tshering Dorji- Forest Ranger(Tang Gewog)
6. Rinchen Namgay- Forest Ranger(Chumme Gewog)
7. Pema Wangchen- Forest Ranger (Ura Gewog)



Community Forestry:
The Dzongkhag Forestry has two approved Community Forestry, one at Tang Ugyen Choling (Sambayyung Community Forestry),consisting of 23 members with an area of 114.80 acres and the other at Ura,Tangsibi(SiptangzurCommunity Forestry), consisting of 30 members with an area of 185.25 acres.Further,the sector has initiated to establish two more Community Forestry under chhokhor and Chumey geogs.The community forestry at Chhokhor (Lhendup) consist of 25 members with an area of 122.90 acres and the community Forestry at Chumey(Samdrupcholing) consists of 20 members with an area of 120 acres.
The community Forestry in the geog will enhance the conservation of the forest and also to generate the farmers’ income and to supply the timber stock for their rural construction.

Private Forestry:

Within the four geogs,there are 74 registered private forestry, consisting of 20 private forestry at Tang,14 at chumey,30 at Ura and 10 at Chhokhor geog with a total area of 82.18 acres.

Technology parks:

The Dzongkhag Forestry Sector has four technology parks to demonstrate to the farmers on raising the tree nursery and seedlings and also to supply during the celebration plantation in their registered lands.

Non -Timber Forest produces (NTFP):

2765 clumps of bamboo rhizomes are planted under Chumey, Ura and Chhokhor geogs in the Community Forestry with an area of 5.15 acres to increase in non timber forest produce in the geogs and the Dzongkhag.
