Ura Gewog is located in south-eastern part of Bumthang Dzongkhag bordered by Chhoekhor and Chhume Gewogs to west, Tang Gewog to the North, Mongar and Zhemgang Dzongkhags to South and Lhuentse Dzongkhag to the east. Total area coverage is approximately 267 square kilometres. Its altitude ranges from 2800-5000 meters above sea level. Total number of population till date is approximately 1953.
In Ura Gewog there are 10 villages with 10 Tshogpas, about 229 households, 4 schools, one BHU (Basic Health Unit), 3 ORCs (Out Reach Clinics) and 6 VHW (Village Health Worker). There are 3 Gomdays (where gomchens study and reside).
The schools include three community schools namely Tangsibi Community Primary School, Shingnyer Community Primary School, Shingkhar Community Primary School, one Lower Secondary School namely Ura Lower Secondary School. There is one Non Formal Education center.
The main livelihood of the people living in Ura is Agriculture. The cash crops available in Ura Gewog are potatoes and mushroom (sangay shamu). And the food crops produced are Wheat, Barley and Sweet Buckwheat.
There is one Micro Hydro power in Duethang and this power house supplies electricity to certain villages in Ura like proper Ura, Sumtrang, Pangkhar.
Ura Gewog has one old RNR Centre located at Pangkhar village.
The east-west national highway that links the western part of the country with eastern Dzongkhags passes through Ura Gewog.
Thrumsingla Park is also located at the end of Ura Gewog with park head office located at Urgang.
